Another Mourning

Development Time: 2 Weeks
Engine: Unity
Role: Presenter, Level Designer, Sound Designer, UI Designer
With this Rapid Prototype, we just had to make a game that went beyond entertainment. We then decided to make a game about coping and the pitfalls/bad habits one can fall into during the process. In Another Mourning, players go through the daily life a man mourning.

For this project I created the level; developed a UI that was moderately diagetic; and scripted/casted/directed/recorded/edited 30+ lines of emotionally evocative dialogue.
VHA's 2-Step Mentor

Development Time: 4 Months
Engine: Unity 3D
Role: Systems Programmer
VHA's 2-Step Mentor is a game used to supplement training for the Veteran's Health Administration's (VHA) environmental / janitorial departments. The project was pitched to the team by the VHA and the VHA assigned multiple subject matter experts that the team conversed with throughout the length of the project. At the end of the project, the team delivered a solid proof-of-concept prototype that will be developed further by another team as determined by an auctioned contract.

My main responsibility for this project was creating the feedback system that was a necessary component in every part of the game. I determined that this feedback system should be data-driven as there would definitely be iteration on the displayed feedback text as the project went on. As such, I created a system wherein a formatted excel file could be provided to the game and then parsed to create the actual collection of feedback the game would then display later.
Carmen's Camera

Development Time: 2 Weeks
Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Role: Project Lead, Presenter, Sound Designer, UI Programmer
In this Rapid Prototype, our prompt was to focus on storytelling. Our prototype placed player's in the role of Carmen, crime scene photographer, and took them through photographing a crime scene. As the player continued, a revelation slowly occurs: Carmen is the killer.

My contributions to this project were managing the project and its tasks through Asana; drafting, recording, and editing of dialogue; and developing UI behavior for taking pictures.
Doodle Duels

Development Time: 2 Weeks
Engine: Adobe Motion Builder (Flash) & ActionScript 3.0
Role: Game Designer, Presenter, Programmer
In this round of Rapid Protoype, we just had to make a game that was fun. However, we were constrained in that we did had to use Flash as our engine. In the game Doodle Duels, players compete to most accurately doodle the same image.

For this project I designed UI and coded a Sound Manager that changed both background music and sound effects based on in-game events.
